Niconeco Zakkaya

New York, NY

Public sourceAsian-owned · Public sourceWomen-owned · Public source

Niconeco Zakkaya is a Japanese craft supply and gift shop on East 10th Street in the East Village, open online since 2015 and in its storefront since 2019.

The shelves hold washi tape and paper, stamps, stickers and wax seals, fountain pens and inks, letter sets and cards, most of it hand-picked from Japan.

Founder Siming Vautin named the shop for the Japanese word zakka, the idea that everyday things can carry meaning, and stocks it so a visitor leaves with something small that pleases them.
