Buffalo Soldiers National Museum
Houston, TX
The Buffalo Soldiers National Museum is dedicated to exploring and displaying the stories and contributions of African Americans in the military, from the Revolutionary War through today. Housed in Houston's Museum District, we preserve the legacy of the legendary Buffalo Soldiers and the countless Black service members who answered the call to duty, often while fighting for freedoms not yet fully their own. Through our collection of artifacts, documents, uniforms, weapons, and memorabilia, we bring this vital chapter of American history to life. Our work reaches beyond the galleries by way of the performing and visual arts, educational programming, and rotating exhibitions that invite visitors of every age to learn, reflect, and honor those who served. As one of the few institutions of its kind in the nation, we are committed to telling a fuller American story, one in which the courage and sacrifice of these soldiers is remembered and celebrated. We welcome students, families, veterans, and history lovers to discover the enduring spirit of the Buffalo Soldiers and the generations who followed in their footsteps.
