Cafe Lalibela
Phoenix, AZ
For more than two decades, our family has welcomed guests to Cafe Lalibela, a warm gathering place for authentic Ethiopian cooking in the heart of Tempe. Everything we serve begins with fresh ingredients and the spices that give Ethiopian food its soul, from our slow-simmered Doro Wat, a chicken stew seasoned with berbere, to tender lamb dishes and hearty vegan combinations. Our meals arrive the traditional way, spooned over spongy injera bread that doubles as your utensil, meant to be shared and savored by hand around the table. We take pride in cooking for everyone, which is why our menu is rich with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, so no guest is left out of the experience. To finish, we pour ethically sourced Ethiopian coffee, brewed in the time-honored way that has made Ethiopia the birthplace of coffee culture. Whether you are new to Ethiopian food or already know your kitfo from your tibs, our staff is happy to guide you. Come hungry, come curious, and let us share the flavors, hospitality, and traditions that have kept our neighbors and visitors coming back to Cafe Lalibela year after year.
