Carl Mack Presents the Mardi Gras Museum of Costumes and Culture, a hands-on celebration of New Orleans Carnival in the French Quarter. The collection comes from Carl Mack, the costumer and performer known as The Xylophone Man, and showcases the regalia of Mardi Gras Kings and Queens, feathered and beaded Mardi Gras Indian suits, Social Aid and Pleasure Club attire and the costumes of neighborhood walking parades. Visitors tour the traditions, then dress up from the costume closet for photos and the Mardi Gras show. The museum also hosts private events and custom parades with a brass band, along with school programs such as mask making and shoebox mini float making.
