Proper's Brick Oven & Taproom

Pittsburgh, PA

Publicly ListedWomen-owned · Publicly Listed

Proper Brick Oven & Tap Room has been an independently owned fixture in Pittsburgh's Cultural District since 2013, built on a simple idea: fresh, scratch-made food and great local beer in a welcoming room. Our pizzas start with a three-day-rising sourdough that we bake at 800 degrees in a wood-fired brick oven, giving every 11-inch pie its blistered, chewy character. From the Margherita to the Mediterranean, each one is cut into eight slices and made to share. Beyond pizza, we roll fresh pastas by hand and cook down our own stocks, sauces, and desserts, leaning on local, seasonal produce and sustainably raised meats wherever we can. Behind the bar you will find 30 craft beers on tap, with a deliberate focus on the breweries and distilleries in our own backyard, plus creative cocktails like our Maple Old Fashioned. Whether you are grabbing a slice and a pint before a show, settling in for a plate of pasta, or finishing with our Italian Lemon Cream Cake, we aim to make every visit feel proper. Come see why downtown Pittsburgh keeps coming back.
