Queer Asterisk empowers and nurtures the diverse ways of being that queer people embody, through accessible counseling, education and community programs that uplift queer, trans and gender expansive lives. It started at Naropa University, where Sorin Thomas and two other graduate students in Somatic Counseling Psychology pictured a different kind of mental health organization: rooted in social justice advocacy, devoted to compassionate counseling and education, and built so that its structure and leadership were informed by queer and trans lived experience.

The clinical team works with children, adolescents and adults, with individuals, families and groups of all configurations, specializing in gender-affirming treatment of dysphoria along with trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, grief and loss. Most counseling happens virtually anywhere in Colorado, with in-person sessions at the Boulder and Denver offices.
