Restaurant Beatrice
Dallas, TX
Restaurant Beatrice brings the warmth and abundance of a Louisiana table to the heart of North Oak Cliff. Chef-owner Michelle Carpenter built this place around heirloom recipes and the kind of hospitality she grew up with, where every guest is fed like family and nothing leaves the kitchen that wasn't made from scratch. The menu runs through contemporary Cajun and Creole cooking with real reverence for the classics: duck and andouille gumbo, oysters, crawfish, po-boys, and slow-built sauces that taste like they took all day, because they did. On weekends, brunch fills the dining room and, in season, the covered patio comes alive with communal seafood boils under the string lights. Inside, stained-glass panels, a handsome bar, and murals give the room a sense of place that feels both rooted and unmistakably ours. The work here has been recognized well beyond the neighborhood, from a James Beard Foundation nod for Best New Restaurant to Eater Dallas naming it Restaurant of the Year and a spot among D Magazine's best. But the ambition is simple: honor where these dishes come from, source thoughtfully and sustainably, and give Dallas a genuine taste of Louisiana hospitality six days a week. Pull up a chair. There's always room at Beatrice.
