Sistah Scifi is a Black-owned bookstore dedicated to Black and Indigenous science fiction, fantasy, Afrofuturism, and speculative fiction. Founded in 2019 by Isis Asare, we connect readers with imaginative stories and authors who have historically been underrepresented in publishing. We serve lifelong SFF fans, curious new readers, families, educators, and communities looking for stories that reflect a wider range of identities, cultures, and possibilities. Through our online bookstore, book vending machines, author conversations, and community events, we make discovering diverse speculative fiction joyful and accessible. Sistah Scifi is a welcoming space where readers of all backgrounds can explore new worlds, celebrate Black and Indigenous creativity, and build community around the transformative power of stories.
