Tayta Latin Cuisine

Tayta Latin Cuisine is a family-owned restaurant in downtown Oklahoma City serving South American, Central American, and Caribbean food, with a menu that runs roughly 80 percent Peruvian and 20 percent Caribbean. It was founded by chef Niel Zambrano, originally from Chiclayo, Peru, and his wife and co-owner Madeline, originally from Panama, who describe Tayta as a family passionate about the culinary arts and dishes that tell a story.

The kitchen leans on the classics done properly: ceviche de pescado and ceviche mixto cured in lime with cancha and sweet potato, leche de tigre, anticuchos, jalea de mariscos, and empanadas both Peruvian and Venezuelan. Larger plates include lomo saltado, seco de carne, arroz con mariscos, pollo a la brasa, lechon asado, churrasco with chimichurri, and the Parrilla Tayta grilled platter built for two.

Breakfast and brunch run on weekends with churrasco con huevo, pan con lechon, and Cuban lechon omelets, and there is a full coffee bar alongside cocktails. Weekends often bring live music, and the dining room has been known to turn into a dance floor. The restaurant also caters private parties, weddings, and corporate events, and validates parking in the garage next door.
