Bayberry Inc.

Bayberry Inc. is a nonprofit human services agency that supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Lake, Napa, Solano and Sonoma counties. Its work is person-centered: the people Bayberry supports guide the decisions that shape their lives, and each support plan is built around a person's own choices, preferences and lifestyle.

The heart of the agency is Supported Living Services, which help adults live in homes they own or lease in the community, in line with California's Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act. Support staff help with everyday life, from shopping, cooking and cleaning to money management, transportation, personal care, medication management and emergency preparedness, and they encourage self-advocacy so people can speak up for their own preferences at home, at work and in civic life. Bayberry also provides residential supports at Bayberry House in Napa.

Bayberry opened its first group home in a Napa Victorian in 1979 and was later chosen as one of 16 pilot agencies statewide for a new model of individually designed living arrangements, the forerunner of today's Supported Living program. The agency honors its staff each December with the Iris Cloudt Legacy Award and the Angelique Antonich Excellence Award.

People interested in services start by asking their Regional Center service coordinator for a referral to Bayberry. Offices in Napa and Clearlake are open weekdays, and Bayberry welcomes donations and applications from people who want to work as direct support professionals.
