Serves Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in Riverside County and the Morongo Basin of San Bernardino CountyDisabilityRegistered nonprofit

Desert Arc provides comprehensive human services, vocational training, adult day care, and independent living support for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Riverside County and the Morongo Basin of San Bernardino County. Established in 1959, the nonprofit organization assists approximately 700 individuals diagnosed with autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, epilepsy, and other developmental conditions. Each client follows a personalized, person-centered plan designed to foster personal autonomy, self-advocacy, and long-term community integration.

Vocational programs combine classroom education with paid, on-the-job training across multiple commercial business divisions operated by the organization. Participants earn competitive wages while mastering vocational skills in commercial landscaping, custodial and janitorial services, secure document shredding, recycling, and warehouse fulfillment. Employment specialists conduct vocational assessments and facilitate direct job placements with regional employers in hospitality, dining, and retail, offering on-site job coaching to support lasting job retention.

Beyond career development, the organization operates adult day centers that offer instruction in health, nutrition, computer literacy, financial management, and fine arts. Supported living services help clients maintain their own apartments or family residences, offering one-on-one assistance with home management, meal preparation, shopping, and healthcare appointments. In addition, the organization coordinates adapted sports training, Special Olympics activities, and dedicated fleet transportation that ensures safe daily access to facilities across the desert communities.
