Dress for Success San Francisco

Dress for Success San Francisco helps unemployed and underemployed women in the Bay Area go from surviving to thriving, with professional attire, coaching and a continuing network of support. Every program is free, and the organization uses the word women in a gender-expansive way that includes cis, trans, non-binary, gender non-conforming and any woman-identified person.

In Career Wardrobe, a woman heading into an interview or a new job books a two-hour window at the San Francisco boutique, shops for 45 minutes with help from trained volunteer personal shoppers and keeps everything she chooses. The Career Center, sponsored by Robert Half, offers one-on-one career coaching, monthly drop-in hours for resumes, LinkedIn profiles and mock interviews, and job search programs held mostly on Zoom, including the Going Places Network, one-day bootcamps and job fairs. Financial literacy workshops and digital skills training, including AI courses offered in English and Spanish, round out the programs. Once hired, women can join the Professional Women's Group, which meets on the first Tuesday of each month from 6 to 8 PM on Zoom.

Women start by completing the online intake form or calling the office. Volunteers serve as personal shoppers, career coaches and workshop speakers after a monthly virtual orientation, and supporters can donate clothing, give, host a clothing drive or attend the annual gala.
