East Bay LGBTQ+ Healing Arts Center (Queer Arts Center)

The East Bay LGBTQ+ Healing Arts Center, also known as the Queer Arts Center, is a gallery, workshop and event space at 3411 Lakeshore Avenue in Oakland's Grand Lake neighborhood. It grew out of Spectrum Queer Media, founded in 2009, and opened its storefront in 2020 to give LGBTQ+ artists and wellness practitioners a place to show their work, teach and heal together.
The Miss Major Griffin-Gracy Art Gallery, curated by founder Kin Folkz, presents exhibitions by artists of many backgrounds and prioritizes Black queer and trans artists. The calendar also includes QTBIPOC open mics with lunch, a QT Women's Open Mic Night, writing circles, healing ceremonies, sober paint-and-sip nights, art-making mixers, a sci-fi and fantasy club, and KinderFolkz, a children's art class for ages 7 to 10. Workshops range from art classes to photography and collective self-care.
The Center also maintains the Black Trans Legacy Archive and the East Bay LGBTQ+ Digital Archives, with a recording and viewing booth where anyone can record or revisit East Bay LGBTQ+ history. The main room hosts gatherings of up to 85 people and is available to rent, and a small QTea Room is open by appointment for wellness practitioners.
Art sales and the online store help support the programs, so visiting a show and buying art are both ways to take part.
