Queer Cultural Center

Queer Cultural Center (QCC) invests in, produces and presents queer art that transforms culture. It builds the archives and infrastructure that prove queer people were here and ensure they remain, and it helps queer artists make, sustain and share ambitious work.

QCC began in 1993 as the San Francisco Lesbian and Gay Center for Art and Culture, created by artists and organizers who wanted a place to present queer art, preserve cultural memory and define queer aesthetics on their own terms. In 1998 it presented the first National Queer Arts Festival, a multidisciplinary platform for performance, visual art, music, theater and film that returns in 2028.

Today QCC offers Fiscal Sponsorship, a legal and financial home for queer and trans artists, collectives and cultural projects, with letters of interest accepted year-round. Creating Queer Communities, its program of funding, artistic development and production support for performance and visual art, returns in fall 2027 with new paths for produced stage shows, a shared artist showcase and a juried visual art exhibition. During the 2026 to 2027 program year, QCC is also building in public, sharing how it strengthens its systems and inviting artists and cultural workers to shape what comes next, including a Bay Area LGBTQ+ arts and culture convening in May 2027.
