The Arc of Butte County

The Arc of Butte County promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and supports their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes. Based in Chico with a second site in Oroville, it serves children and adults with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and other disabilities across Butte, Glenn and Tehama counties.

The Adult Day Program in Chico and Oroville is built around quality of life, independence and confidence, with activities and community outings. Independent Living Skills instruction supports individuals in reaching their own goals for where and how they live, and Job Development and Training helps people build vocational skills and move toward competitive integrated employment in the community. Respite Care Services give a child or adult with a disability companionship and a caregiver time to rest, and Family Support Programs stand beside the families behind them.

The Arc Thrift Store and Donation Center on Park Avenue, along with a Mobile Thrift Store, gives adults with disabilities paid work experience while funding the mission. Community events are part of the calendar too: A Day With First Responders at the Chico Marketplace is a free, hands-on event to build trust and confidence, and the Community Holiday Carol Sing-Along brings Day Program participants together with local first, second and third graders.

Neighbors can donate goods at the Arc Store, give online, become members, sponsor an event or volunteer at fundraisers.
