The Arc-Solano

The Arc-Solano supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Solano County through three core programs built around independence, community and personal choice. Founded in 1953 as a parent support group, it is an affiliate of The Arc of California and The Arc of the United States.

Transitional Services (TS) is an independent living skills program: instructors meet participants one to two times a week at home and in the community to work on budgeting, paying bills, medical appointments, Medi-Cal and Social Security benefits, housing and self-advocacy. Alternatives in Curriculum and Training (ACT) is a full-time, site-based day program with a behavioral emphasis, designed for adults with a dual diagnosis and built on Positive Behavior Supports and Interventions. ACT participants spend about half their time out in the community, volunteering at food banks, Meals on Wheels and local farms. Tailored Day Services (TDS) is a one-to-one, community-based program focused on volunteering, job readiness and college or vocational coursework.

Participants can also join Art@Arc, the creative arts program whose artists exhibit at the Solano County Fair and in the Amy Scopesi Art Gallery at the Vallejo office, plus a literacy program run with the Solano County Library and the BEADdazzlers jewelry group. The annual Sprout Film Festival, held at the Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum, screens films celebrating the lives and creativity of people with developmental disabilities.

Services are for North Bay Regional Center clients referred by their Service Coordinator. Volunteers help with literacy tutoring, sign language instruction and special events, and memberships start at $6.
