Dress for Success Washington, DC

Dress for Success Washington, DC helps women across the DC metro area achieve economic independence through professional attire, career development tools and a supportive community. Since 2002, it has worked with women who are seeking employment, starting a new job, advancing in their careers or building greater financial stability.

The Suiting Experience pairs each woman with a volunteer personal shopper to choose a complete interview outfit, from suit and blouse to shoes and accessories, and invites her back once she is hired to pick out a week's worth of work clothes. Under its membership model, women register once and gain access to curated Confidence Kits, styling sessions on the third Saturday of each month, skill-building workshops in financial literacy, digital skills and self-advocacy, and one-on-one career coaching for resumes, mock interviews and LinkedIn profiles. Members can earn additional kits by attending coaching visits, starting a new job or earning a promotion.

The Professional Women's Group meets monthly for workshops led by industry experts, networking and mentoring, and members belong for life. Through Aspire Academy, clients can take more than 30 free online courses at their own pace, and the Virtual Career Center offers resume, cover letter and job application guidance to anyone.

Volunteers serve as suiting stylists, career coaches, workshop facilitators, Professional Women's Group speakers and donation coordinators. Supporters can give professional clothing at scheduled drop-offs and donation drives, shop the Designer Wardrobe Sale, or join the Little Black Dress Club.
