AKESO Community Health

AKESO Community Health is a nonprofit medical clinic in North Miami that provides primary care, HIV care and sexual health services in an LGBTQIA+ inclusive setting. Its mission is to ensure exceptional medical care for everyone living with HIV, regardless of ability to pay, and to help end the HIV epidemic by expanding access to PrEP and helping patients reach and keep an undetectable viral load.

The clinic offers LGBTQ+ primary care, including internal medicine, preventive care, vaccinations and referrals to specialists; confidential HIV and STI testing; PrEP and PEP, with patient assistance programs available; HIV specialty care, including antiretroviral therapy and ongoing management; and affirming medical care for transgender patients. Support services go beyond the exam room, with individual counseling, group therapy, financial guidance and legal referrals. AKESO works in affiliation with Dade Internal Medicine & Associates (DIMA), and its providers take part in HIV clinical research.

AKESO focuses on removing the barriers that keep people from care. HIV and PrEP patients can get free Uber or Lyft rides to appointments, an in-house pharmacy can deliver medications to patients' homes, and the clinic's doors are open regardless of insurance.
