CHEER Fort Lauderdale
Fort Lauderdale, FL · Serving South Florida
CHEER Fort Lauderdale is a nonprofit cheerleading team of LGBTQ+ adults and allies who cheer, raise funds and support their community. Since 2021 the team has brought cheer, dance, stunts and crowd energy to Pride celebrations, parades, fundraisers and community events across South Florida, from Wilton Manors Pride to sports events and corporate functions.
Every performance serves a purpose. Through the South Florida Spirit Fund, the team selects a beneficiary each season and directs its fundraising to organizations that give homeless and at-risk LGBTQ+ youth safety, resources and a path off the streets.
The team welcomes people of all backgrounds, identities, experience levels and body types, and calls itself the Sunny Family. Performing members practice weekly. New cheerleaders can start at beginner-friendly Try It Clinics before summer tryouts, which are held at a partner gym in Pompano Beach. Those who would rather stay off the mat can join the Production Team, helping with events, logistics, outreach and fundraising.
To bring the team to a Pride festival, fundraiser, private celebration or brand event, submit a booking request online; every booking supports the mission. Supporters can also donate, sponsor a fundraiser or shop the team's pro shop.
