Gay Men's Chorus of Tampa Bay

The Gay Men's Chorus of Tampa Bay celebrates the inherent dignity of all people through excellence in men's choral music. Since 2002 it has built a brotherhood of singers who perform two or more major concerts each year in Tampa and St. Petersburg, along with cabaret-style shows and fundraisers, all built on the belief that music can bridge boundaries and change how people see LGBTQ+ people.
A season might open with a Disney-themed fall concert, move to a holiday show like "Holly, Jolly, and Gay!", bring a 1970s disco cabaret to the Straz Center's Jaeb Theater, and close with a spring concert such as "Love in Technicolor." The chorus has performed "Tyler's Suite," honoring Tyler Clementi, has represented Tampa Bay at national GALA Choruses festivals since 2004, and sings at St. Pete, Tampa and Pasco Pride events. Singers have backed Hugh Jackman and Demi Lovato and sung the national anthem for the Rays, Lightning and Rowdies. The fall concert plays Seminole Heights UMC in Tampa and Allendale UMC in St. Petersburg, where ASL interpreters join the performance.
The chorus traces its roots to the Tampa Bay Gay Men's Chorus, founded in 1987, and took its current name in 2016. Artistic Director Jeremiah Cummings leads the music.
Anyone who can sing tenor, baritone or bass is welcome to audition in January or July; singers do not need to identify as gay or male. Rehearsals are held weekly, and financial assistance is available for dues. Non-singers can join the 5th Section volunteers, and audiences can support the chorus through tickets, sponsorships and monthly giving.

Spring and fall cabarets
Cabaret-style shows such as "Out on the Dance Floor" and "Say My Name" at the Straz Center's Jaeb Theater.

Seasonal shows such as "Holly, Jolly, and Gay!" and "Slay Bells" at Allendale UMC and Seminole Heights UMC.
GALA Choruses festivals
Representing Tampa Bay at the national LGBTQIA+ choral festival.
Pride and community performances
Appearances at St. Pete, Tampa and Pasco Pride events and national anthem performances at Tampa Bay sporting events.
5th Section volunteers
Non-singing members who set up rehearsals, provide snacks and support concerts and events.
