Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida
Wilton Manors, FL · Serving South Florida (Broward, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach and the Treasure Coast)
The Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida sings so that LGBTQ+ people can live their truth, through concerts that inspire audiences, open minds and affirm a common humanity. Founded in 2010, the chorus has grown into the largest gay men's chorus in the Southeast, with more than 160 singers led by Artistic Director Gabe Salazar.
GMCSF presents grand-scale mainstage concerts, including its holiday concert at Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, and performs across the region at events such as Miami Heat and Miami Marlins Pride Nights and Treasure Coast Pride Fest. Tropical Wave, its roughly 20-voice vocal ensemble, brings classical, Broadway, jazz and pop repertoire to nonprofits, civic events and cultural celebrations. The chorus offers ASL interpretation at select performances and prioritizes accessible seating at every venue.
Membership is open to anyone 18 or older, out of high school, who sings tenor, baritone or bass and passes a friendly audition; singers do not have to identify as gay, bisexual or male. Rehearsals are held weekly, and scholarships are available for dues. Community events such as sing-alongs in Wilton Manors and the Chili Cook-Off at The Eagle keep members and fans connected between concerts.
Non-singers can volunteer as ushers, backstage crew, booth staff or office help, give through the Choral Society, or attend the Chic & Unique Ball, the chorus's annual red-carpet gala.
