Hispanic Unity of Florida

Hispanic Unity of Florida (HUF) helps immigrants and others build a new life in the United States by becoming self-sufficient, productive and civically engaged. Founded in Hollywood in 1982 by Eugenio Torres and community leaders, it serves families across Broward and, more recently, Miami-Dade County with free programs in English and Spanish.

The Pathways to Citizenship Program offers free citizenship classes on-site and online, a seven-week intensive course with step-by-step help on the N-400 application, drop-in classes for applicants awaiting their interview, and voter registration help. Low-cost immigration consultations cover work permits, family petitions, green card renewals, adjustment of status and more. Broward Tax Pro, the VITA coalition HUF leads, prepares free tax returns for eligible households.

For work and money, HUF offers job placement, resume help, fast-track certifications in high-demand fields, English classes, and Learn Money Skills for Life coaching on budgeting, credit and debt. The Level UP Center of Entrepreneurship coaches new and growing business owners, and HUF hosts the Broward Entrepreneur Summit and the Miami Entrepreneur Summit. The First-Time Home Buyers Program covers buying, renting and foreclosure prevention, while Comprando Rico y Sano and marketplace navigators connect families to SNAP and health insurance.

Children and teens have Unity 4Kids preschool for ages three to five, Unity 4Teens free after-school and summer programs for middle and high school students, and the Family Strengthening Program for parents. Supporters can join the Amigos Circle, attend an event or become a corporate partner.
