The Our Fund Foundation

The Our Fund Foundation promotes philanthropy, manages enduring investments and makes grants to improve the lives of LGBTQ people in South Florida. Launched in 2010 by a small group of activist philanthropists and a First Hundred Funders circle, it is the only LGBTQ-specific community foundation in the Southeastern United States, with a goal of making South Florida the most livable place in the country for LGBTQ people.

Guided by a community needs assessment, the foundation's competitive grants focus on three areas: Health & Wellness, including HIV/AIDS, addiction and mental health, healthcare access and the isolation of LGBTQ elders; Social Justice, for programs that expand inclusion and LGBTQ-affirming protections; and Arts & Culture, for work that tells and preserves LGBTQ stories. The Pillars Fund adds multi-year operating support for essential LGBTQ-serving organizations, and the Faces of Impact series produced video profiles for 24 local nonprofits.

The foundation also invests in the people doing the work. Its Next Generation Learning Series strengthens governance and fundraising at partner agencies, a quarterly Leadership Network brings executive directors together, and the South Florida LGBTQ Philanthropy Awards honor donors and volunteers each year. The Trans Voices op-ed series amplifies local transgender writers.
