OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival

OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival is South Florida's LGBTQ+ film festival, bringing queer stories from around the world to screens in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. It grew from the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, founded in 1998, and the Fort Lauderdale Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, launched in 2008, which merged under one name. Its mission is to foster community and celebrate LGBTQ+ stories through films and media that explore both historical and contemporary perspectives.

OUTshine presents two full festival editions each year, in spring and fall, with screenings at venues including the Koubek Center, Tower Theater, Silverspot Cinema and Little Haiti Cultural Center in Miami, Savor Cinema and Paradigm Cinema Gateway in Fort Lauderdale, and Regal Dania Pointe. Each edition brings opening, centerpiece and closing night films with after parties, Latin and Fort Lauderdale Spotlight nights, filmmaker Q&As, jury awards and a showcase of South Florida shorts and filmmakers. OUTshine At-Home follows each edition with a week of virtual screenings, and the Cocktails & Cinema series fills the months in between with film nights that include a post-film cocktail hour.

Film lovers can buy single tickets or a membership pass good at both editions, in person and online. Volunteers staff scanning, seating, ballots, setup and talent hospitality, earning a free screening voucher for each shift and an OUTshine T-shirt, and year-round committees help with screening submissions, fundraising, marketing, grants and parties.
