PRISM FL

PRISM FL expands access to LGBTQ-inclusive education and sexual health resources for young people across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. Its motto, "For every color, for everyone," reflects a commitment to making sure every young person feels included regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. PRISM began in 2019 when four students at Boca Raton Community High School set out to build an affirming space for LGBTQ+ students, and it became a nonprofit in 2020.

Its free online tools put practical information within reach. The STI Clinic Search maps affordable, nondiscriminatory testing sites in South Florida with hours, pricing, tests offered and PrEP and PEP availability, and trained volunteers in the STI Clinic Vetting Program get tested at listed clinics to keep that information accurate. The Learn library covers sexual health, LGBTQ+ history, gender and sexuality, and queer people of color, while the School Policy Hub explains Florida laws and district rules, from affirmed names and pronouns to school board advocacy, for students, parents and educators.

The PRISM Student Ambassador Program (P-SAP) backs GSAs and LGBTQ+ student clubs at high schools and universities in the tri-county area with guest speakers, trainings, monthly leader meetings, policy guidance and club stipends. PRISM also rallies students, parents and allies to speak up at Broward and Miami-Dade school board meetings.

Volunteers start at the monthly virtual Volunteer and Organizer Orientation, then join one of six task forces: Research, Outreach, Content Creation, Fundraising, BIPOC Advocates and Policy. Social events such as the PRISM Tabletop Role-Playing Experience round out the calendar.
