Unity Coalition|Coalición Unida

Unity Coalition|Coalición Unida (UC|CU) serves South Florida's Hispanic, Latinx and Indigenous LGBTQ+ communities through the arts, education and economic development. It began in 2002 as a grassroots, door-to-door campaign to protect Miami-Dade County's Human Rights Ordinance, and today runs bilingual programs in Miami alongside sister programs in Bogotá, Colombia, and Lima, Peru. UC|CU is staffed and managed entirely by professional volunteers.

Its signature event is Celebrate ORGULLO, South Florida's first Hispanic LGBTQ+ Pride festival, held each fall during Hispanic Heritage Month. The festival's events include Noche de Arte at the ArtLAB gallery, Noche de Paladar with open mic, food and music in Little Havana, and the ORGULLO Gala, which honors people and businesses that have done good for the Hispanic LGBTQI+ community.

UC|CU is also home to the Miami Gay Chorus, founded in 1999 and reimagined under UC|CU in 2022 as an all-inclusive chorus that rehearses at St. John's on the Lake in Miami Beach and performs seasonal concerts. ArtLAB, a free gallery at the Scott Galvin Community Center in North Miami, shows work by artists of trans experience and the wider LGBTQ+ community, while TRANSART and the TransLives video archive celebrate and record the lives and talents of trans and nonbinary people. Saber es Poder (Knowing Is Power) connects Latinx and Indigenous LGBTQ+ people with HIV education, testing partners and resources.

Singers can join the chorus by the semester or the year, volunteers help greet guests and set up at ORGULLO events, and donations go straight to programming.
