406 Pride

Billings, MT · Serving Billings and South Central Montana

Serves LGBTQ+ individuals, youth, families, and allies in Billings and South Central MontanaLGBTQIA+Registered nonprofit

406 Pride provides safe, affirming community space, cultural events, and essential resources for LGBTQ+ individuals and their families across Billings and South Central Montana. Originating in 2012 as an educational outreach initiative known as The Awareness Project, the organization expanded its community footprint by opening a permanent LGBTQ+ Resource Center in downtown Billings, creating a vital physical gathering place where sexual and gender minorities can find companionship, validation, and practical assistance in a welcoming environment.

The downtown resource center serves as an accessible hub for fellowship, community education, and peer connection. Visitors can explore an extensive LGBTQ+ lending library featuring queer literature, history, and youth titles, use computers with internet access, or socialize in a supportive lounge space. The center hosts regular peer discussion groups tailored to youth, transgender and nonbinary individuals, and older adults, helping community members navigate identity, family relationships, and personal affirmation. Staff and volunteer facilitators also provide referrals to inclusive local clinicians, legal advocates, and crisis support.

In addition to ongoing center operations, 406 Pride produces the city's signature annual Pride festival and parade. The community event convenes local residents, supportive business sponsors, non-profit partners, and performers for a weekend of cultural celebration, public visibility, and civic unity. Through year-round cultural workshops, educational panels for local employers, and social gatherings, the organization works to reduce rural isolation and promote inclusive community standards across Yellowstone County.
