Serves Women seeking economic self-sufficiency and workforce re-entry in Albany and the Capital RegionWomenRegistered nonprofit

Dress for Success Albany is a dedicated workforce empowerment program operated under the Albany Community Action Partnership, providing women with professional wardrobe styling, job search tools, and career development resources. Established in 2002, the boutique serves women across Albany County and the Capital District who are actively seeking employment, preparing for interviews, or entering new careers.

The agency’s signature service is its personalized suiting program. Clients referred by local community organizations, workforce centers, and shelter programs work one-on-one with volunteer personal stylists to select interview-ready professional outfits, shoes, and accessories at no cost. Once clients secure employment, they return for additional workforce attire to complete a professional wardrobe rotation. Beyond suiting, the program’s Career Center offers access to computers, digital skills training, resume reviews, and mock interview coaching designed to build workplace confidence.

To promote long-term employment retention, the organization facilitates the Professional Women’s Group, offering ongoing monthly workshops on workplace dynamics, financial literacy, career advancement, and peer networking. Women seeking services can request a referral through local social service case managers or workforce agencies. Community members can support the mission by donating clean, contemporary professional attire, volunteering as stylists or career mentors, and making charitable financial contributions to sustain programming.
