Dress for Success Greater New York City
New York, NY · Serving New York City (five boroughs)
Dress for Success Greater New York City is a community workforce organization dedicated to empowering women to thrive in work and in life. Founded in 1997 in Manhattan, the organization operates its signature styling boutique and career advancement center in Midtown Manhattan, serving thousands of women across the five boroughs of New York City who are entering or returning to the workforce.
The organization’s cornerstone service is its professional suiting and styling program. Working one-on-one with volunteer image consultants, referred clients select head-to-toe interview outfits, business accessories, and personal grooming items free of charge. Upon securing employment, participants return for additional business separates to establish a versatile working wardrobe. In addition, the organization provides Career Advancement programming, offering computer access, personalized resume feedback, mock interview practice, and digital skills workshops.
To promote sustained economic mobility and leadership development, the agency facilitates the Professional Women’s Group and Success Club, where employed women participate in monthly masterclasses on financial planning, salary negotiation, workplace dynamics, and peer networking. Women seeking services can obtain referrals through hundreds of local nonprofit partners, workforce centers, and shelter agencies. Community members and corporate allies can get involved by hosting professional clothing drives, volunteering as stylists or career mentors, and contributing financial donations.
