India Home
Jamaica, NY · Serving Jamaica, Flushing, Elmhurst, Ozone Park, Queens, and Nassau County
India Home is a specialized nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing the needs of and empowering South Asian and Indo-Caribbean older adults. Founded in 2007 in Queens, the agency has grown from a grassroots initiative into a leading senior care network operating multiple center locations across Jamaica, Ozone Park, Flushing, Elmhurst, and Hicksville.
The organization delivers culturally and religiously competent senior services that bridge cultural and linguistic divides. Across its senior center network, older adults gather for daily congregate hot vegetarian and halal meals, yoga instruction, Bollywood-style fitness classes, arts therapy, and traditional cultural festivities. Through its innovative 3D Care initiative (Desi Dementia Daycare), the organization provides specialized, culturally tailored cognitive engagement and respite support for seniors living with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, as well as essential relief for family caregivers.
Comprehensive social services include bilingual case management assisting seniors with SNAP food assistance, Medicaid, Medicare Part D enrollment, SCRIE senior rent freezes, and housing advocacy. The agency also operates the Smart Food Pantry, distributing culturally appropriate staple groceries to food-insecure households. Seniors and family caregivers can access programs by contacting the Jamaica headquarters or visiting any center location. Supporters can get involved by volunteering to teach senior workshops, assisting with meal distribution, or making financial donations.
