TransNewYork
New York, NY · Serving New York metropolitan area and New York State
TransNewYork is a nonprofit community organization and consultancy dedicated to supporting, educating, and empowering transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary individuals and their families across New York State. Founded in 2018 by psychologist Dr. Gennifer Herley, the organization provides a safe, welcoming environment where gender-diverse people can navigate their authentic identities, overcome social isolation, and access critical life skills and career pathways.
The organization delivers comprehensive direct supportive services centered on personal growth and community connection. Its monthly peer support circles and group life coaching sessions offer safe spaces for community members to discuss gender dysphoria, family dynamics, medical navigation, and shared lived experiences. In addition, trained counselors and life coaches provide individualized transition roadmaps, helping youth, adults, and their loved ones navigate the social, legal, and emotional stages of gender transition with compassionate guidance.
Economic self-sufficiency and broader systemic inclusion represent vital components of the agency's mission. Through its Workforce Development Training Certificate Program, the organization equips transgender jobseekers with resume refinement, interview preparation, professional etiquette, and workplace navigation skills to successfully enter or advance in the job market. The organization also delivers corporate DEI training, including the Trans 101: Allyship Through Education course, which educates employers on transgender inclusion and gender-affirming workplace policies. Individuals seeking counseling or workforce workshops can register online, while corporate partners can book specialized workplace training sessions.
