Black Pearl Books is an independent bookstore in Austin, run as a family business, with a mission to promote diversity, inclusion and representation through literature. The name was chosen with care. Black pearls stand for independence, strength, loyalty and healing. Some cultures read them as a symbol of hope, others as wisdom and knowledge, which suits a bookstore that exists to put the right book in the right hands. Readers have plenty of places to buy a book, and the store is grateful to be the one they choose.
