About Rochester Juneteenth Festival

A two-day Juneteenth festival at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park in downtown Rochester, with an elders circle on the first day and a freedom parade and festival on the second. It is presented by the Greater Rochester MLK Commission and the Rochester Area Community Foundation.

What to expect

Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865, when news of the end of slavery reached Galveston, Texas. It became a federal holiday in 2021. Celebrations often include parades, music, food, history programs and family activities.
