About South Philadelphia Día de los Muertos

South Philadelphia's Dia de los Muertos is a one-day celebration with a daytime street festival on 9th Street, organized by the Association of Mexican Business Owners of Philadelphia, and an evening program at Fleisher Art Memorial organized by La Calaca Flaca. The day runs 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on 9th Street and 4 to 9 p.m. at Fleisher.

What to expect

Día de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead, is a Mexican tradition of remembering loved ones who have died, held around November 1 and 2. Celebrations often include ofrendas (altars), marigolds, sugar skulls, face painting, music and processions.
