Alaskans Together for Equality

Alaskans Together for Equality is Alaska's statewide organization for education and advocacy on behalf of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer Alaskans. Its mission is to advance civil equality for all Alaskans through grassroots organizing and advocacy. The organization has two parts: Alaskans Together for Equality, the nonpartisan advocacy branch working on LGBTQ+ rights at the local, state and federal levels, and the Alaskans Together Foundation, an education nonprofit that gives people across the state the information they need to speak up for their rights.

Alaskans Together grew out of a 2007 ballot measure committee formed to fight an advisory vote aimed at stripping state employees of same-sex partner benefits. Today its central campaign is the Alaska Equality Act, which would give LGBTQ+ Alaskans clear statewide protections at work, in housing and in public spaces. Alaskans can add their names as citizen co-sponsors, and the Legislative Action Center posts action alerts with talking points and the offices to call.

The foundation hosts the Anchorage Pride Parade each June, with floats, music, and tents and food trucks along the Delaney Park Strip. The 2025 parade, the 48th annual, drew more than 900 marchers, the largest Anchorage has seen. Sales of the official parade T-shirt help keep the celebration free and open to everyone.

A donation of $10 or more brings a 12-month membership, with email updates on legislation and surveys that help set the organization's priorities. Volunteers help with the parade and advocacy work, and monthly donors sustain it year-round.
