About Anchorage PrideFest and Pride Parade
Anchorage holds its annual Pride parade and festival on a Saturday in late June. The parade steps off at 9th Avenue and F Street and moves through downtown, and the festival on the Delaney Park Strip includes performances, food trucks, and vendors. Anchorage's first Pride march took place in 1977.
The Anchorage Pride Parade is hosted by the Alaskans Together Foundation, which stages the parade with an 11:30 a.m. start at 9th Avenue and F Street. The foundation sells an official parade T-shirt each year, and those sales help cover parade costs so the event can stay free and open to everyone. The election was much closer than many expected, and activists from around the state decided to keep organizing afterward.
That work grew into Alaskans Together for Equality, a statewide LGBTQ education and advocacy group that has taken part in local, state and federal policy discussions since 2007. It is a membership organization open to anyone who supports LGBTQ equality, and members are encouraged to hold meetings and events in their own communities. The foundation and Identity, Inc. are its two charitable sister organizations serving Alaska's LGBTQ+ community.
