The Arc of Mohave County

The Arc of Mohave County helps adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Kingman area grow toward the greatest independence possible, guided by each person's own preferences. Parents who saw too few life options for their adult children in Mohave County founded it in April 1970, and it remains a partner of The Arc of Arizona and The Arc of the United States, licensed by the Arizona Division of Developmental Disabilities.

The Day Treatment for Adults program builds personal care, communication, social, motor and leisure skills through structured activities at the Airway Avenue center and regular outings to museums, parks, restaurants, stores, farms, botanical gardens and movie theaters. With a one-to-four staff ratio, it also teaches pre-vocational skills like attention to task and teamwork, and specialized door-to-door transportation is available in certain areas. In Group Supported Employment, members work in small teams at local businesses alongside a job coach and are paid for every hour worked, with a path to individual supported employment. The High School Transitional Program lets students within a year of graduation start an Arc program while still in school.

The Arc of Mohave County Thrift Store, open Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm, provides job training for members and funding for programs.
