PFLAG Phoenix

PFLAG Phoenix is the local chapter of PFLAG National serving the greater Phoenix and Maricopa County area. It exists so that no LGBTQ+ person, and no parent or family member, has to work through identity, coming out or advocacy alone. The chapter is volunteer-led, and its mission is to create a caring, just and affirming world for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them.

The heart of the chapter is its monthly check-in meeting. In-person meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month from 6 to 8 pm, and a virtual meeting runs the second Sunday of each month from 7 to 8 pm. Each one opens with a welcome and announcements, then moves into a confidential support circle for LGBTQ+ adults, parents and caregivers, family members and allies. Nobody needs the right words or a finished story to attend, and a facilitator is available for anyone who needs quiet, one-on-one support. Each month also includes an education topic that fits the season, such as back-to-school or coming out.

The chapter also shares PFLAG resource guides for allies, families of faith, transgender and nonbinary loved ones and military families, and takes part in community events such as the Phoenix Pride Festival & Parade. Members volunteer, join the chapter, donate, or simply come to a meeting.
