Y.E.S. The Arc

Y.E.S. The Arc supports adults with developmental disabilities in Cottonwood and across the Verde Valley, built on the belief that every person is capable of growth and learning. Its goal is simple: training and opportunities that move each person toward the greatest independence possible, with programs shaped in partnership with members, families and the community.

The Day Treatment & Training Program runs Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm, at the Willard Street center, with classes in money handling, reading, writing, math, science, history, cooking, computers, physical fitness, music, dance and art. Members' artwork and ceramics are a point of pride. Working with Arizona's Division of Developmental Disabilities and Rehabilitation Services Administration, Y.E.S. The Arc also offers community job placement, job coaching and contract work. Four residential homes, all within a block of each other in Cottonwood, give members a home base and a neighborhood of friends.

Transportation to the day program and employment services covers Camp Verde, Cornville, Cottonwood, Clarkdale, Lake Montezuma, Rimrock, Sedona and the Village of Oak Creek. The recreation program gets members out to softball, bowling, basketball, swimming, concerts, plays, state parks and professional games, and The Arc Angel Choir and Performing Arts Troupe take the stage at community events through the year.

The highlight of the calendar is the annual Holiday Dinner Dance at the Cottonwood Community Clubhouse, with member performances, a silent auction and raffle, dinner and a DJ. Families can call the main office for a tour, program information or a spot on the residential waiting list.
