PFLAG Greater Placer County

PFLAG Greater Placer County works to create a caring, just and affirming world for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them. The chapter serves families across the Greater Placer County area, from Roseville to Auburn, through support, education and advocacy.

Support starts with separate monthly support groups, one in person and one online, plus an Auburn satellite meeting on the third Wednesday of each month. Parents and allies of transgender people also have their own weekly support group, which rotates through a faith-based discussion, a book club, time for sharing stories and education on trans-specific topics. Each monthly meeting includes an education topic tied to the time of year, such as back-to-school or coming out, and the chapter hosts periodic special programs like suicide prevention training and a name change clinic.

The Bob Wiseman Scholarship is open to all high school seniors in Placer County, with applications opening each February. The chapter also partners with local and national organizations to educate decision-makers about issues affecting LGBTQ+ people and their families, and it invites supporters to join it at Placer Pride. Its resource library includes PFLAG guides for allies, families of trans and nonbinary people, faith communities and bisexual+ people.

Everyone is welcome at meetings, whether or not they are dues-paying members. To join the mailing list and get meeting details, email the chapter with your name and what you are looking for. Memberships and donations are tax deductible and keep the support groups running.
