LGBTQ+ Victory Institute

LGBTQ+ Victory Institute works to increase the number, expand the diversity and ensure the success of out LGBTQ+ elected and appointed officials at every level of government. Based in Washington, DC, it has trained LGBTQ+ candidates and campaign staff since 1993 and partners with leaders in the United States and around the world.

The signature Candidate & Campaign Trainings are non-partisan, bootcamp-style simulations where participants build a plan to run for office and win, with extension trainings for LGBTQ+ women and for trans and gender nonconforming leaders. Free half-day Public Leadership Summits bring local LGBTQ+ officials and partners to cities such as New York and Raleigh to help people take their first steps toward running. The Time2Run Toolbox offers resources for anyone thinking about a campaign.

Fellowships and internships include the Victory Congressional Internship for LGBTQ+ college students, the Victory Congressional Fellowship, the Victory Empowerment Fellowship for emerging leaders of color and transgender leaders, the Women Out To Win Fellowship, and the David Bohnett Leaders Fellowship at the Harvard Kennedy School. The David Mixner Political Appointments Program helps qualified LGBTQ+ people find roles in presidential administrations. The Out for America map tracks openly LGBTQ+ elected officials, and the annual International LGBTQ+ Leaders Conference brings officials and advocates together.
