Contigo Fund

Contigo Fund is a place-based, intersectional social justice funder supporting grassroots organizing and resource distribution across Central Florida. Founded in the wake of the 2016 Pulse tragedy in Orlando and rooted in queer Latinx history, it takes its name from the Spanish word for "with you." Its message to communities facing violence, discrimination and political attacks is simple: Estamos Contigo.

As a participatory grantmaker, Contigo uses community-powered decision-making, grounded in the belief that those closest to the challenges are closest to the solutions. Its primary investment, the Movement & Power Building Grant, offers general operating support over 12 months to grassroots organizations, programs and coalitions building leadership, organizing and advocacy for Queer communities of color, especially Black, Latinx, immigrant, trans, nonbinary and gender-expansive communities. Smaller groups are strongly preferred. The grantmaking region spans Brevard, Flagler, Indian River, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole and Volusia counties.

Contigo also raises rapid-response dollars through its Immigrant Advocacy & Defense Emergency Fund, which supports pro-immigrant campaigns, mutual aid and family defense networks. Its research with Funders for LGBTQ Issues, State of LGBTQ+ Community Resources in Central Florida, tracks funding for the region's LGBTQ+ nonprofits, and for the 10-year remembrance of Pulse it published a messaging framework to help media and partners tell that story with care.
