PFLAG Greater Orlando

PFLAG Greater Orlando is an organization of LGBTQ+ people, parents, families and allies working to create a caring, just and affirming world for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them. The local chapter started in 1992 and continues to support, educate and advocate for LGBTQ+ people, parents, families, friends and allies.

Support comes through three free monthly meetings. Longwood meets in person, Downtown Orlando meets in a hybrid format (in person or on Zoom), and Mills/50 meets in person. Everything shared at a meeting is strictly confidential and no recording is permitted, so a parent learning about a child's identity, or an LGBTQ+ person looking for understanding, can speak freely. Meetings also include education on topics relevant to local families, and the chapter shares programs from partners such as suicide prevention trainings and name change clinics.

The chapter's resource library includes PFLAG guides to being an ally to LGBTQ+ people and to trans and nonbinary people, along with a directory of local LGBTQ+ resources. PFLAG Greater Orlando also partners with local and national organizations to educate decision-makers about issues affecting LGBTQ+ people and their families.

To attend a meeting, complete the brief registration form on the chapter's website to receive the location. Members, donors and volunteers sustain the chapter, and each October volunteers staff its table and march in the Come Out With Pride parade at Lake Eola Park.
