QLatinx

QLatinx is a grassroots racial, social and gender justice organization dedicated to the advancement and empowerment of Central Florida's LGBTQ+ Latinx community. It was founded in response to the June 12, 2016 shooting at Pulse during the club's Latinx night, and its work honors the 49 lives taken, nearly half of them of Puerto Rican descent.

Its programs span several areas of justice. Hablando ¡ALTO! builds skills and leadership among LGBTQ+ Latinx people living with HIV and their allies, and the Central Florida AIDS Memorial Project, run with the Central Florida HIV Planning Council, holds community quilt workshops and a World AIDS Day ceremony. Harm reduction outreach distributes naloxone and fentanyl test strips and offers free one-on-one support for people practicing chemsex. The Immigrant Justice Initiative leads Know Your Rights trainings and connects people with immigration specialists for citizenship, DACA and asylum matters. Healing Justice offers Inhala/Exhala, Spanish-language yoga and meditation classes, and Gender Justice programs such as Metamorphosis and Colectivo TRANSforma support trans, nonbinary and gender non-conforming community members. QLatinx also provides interpretation and language access for Central Florida events, carrying forward the work of the Coquí Language Collective.
