The Arc of Bradford County

The Arc of Bradford County helps people with intellectual and developmental disabilities live full, independent lives in Starke and the surrounding county. Founded in 1975, it treats each person with dignity, supports them in choosing and reaching their own goals, and promotes their strengths through education and advocacy alongside families, friends and the community.

Its day programs offer engaging activities that build life skills and independence, with a plan tailored to each participant and transportation available in many cases. Three group homes, including Glendale Home and Stella's Place, each house six to eight residents with 24/7 staff support, and Supported Living and Personal Supports help people who live on their own handle the day-to-day tasks of independent living.

Work is a big part of life at The Arc. In the woodshop, known as Sunshine Industries, participants build survey stakes, batter boards, pallets and picnic tables that local businesses buy, and anyone can order online. A mobile work crew keeps dormitories clean at Camp Blanding. The Arc is also raising funds to launch Access Brewing Co., a mission-driven brewery that will provide training and inclusive jobs.

The community comes together each October for the Fall Festival, a free family day with Cow Patty Bingo, a vendor market and woodshop sales, and each December for the David Dodge Christmas Fundraiser and cake auction. Families and friends can become members, volunteer, donate or shop the woodshop.
