Urban League of Palm Beach County and Treasure Coast

The Urban League of Palm Beach County and Treasure Coast creates pathways for communities to reach economic, social and civic opportunity through education, advocacy and training. Concerned citizens founded it in 1973 to advance civil rights in Palm Beach County, and in 1974 it became the 102nd affiliate of the National Urban League. It later took its current name as it expanded into Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties.

The Youth and Education Pathways Center prepares young people for college, work and life. CINS/FINS offers crisis counseling, parent training and case management for students ages six to 17 and their families. The National Achievers Society recognizes high-achieving students with SAT and ACT prep, leadership training and scholarship opportunities, the STEAM Team introduces middle schoolers to science and technology careers, the Teen Outreach Program builds life skills through service learning, and Youth Crime Prevention and Intervention hosts teen summits, tutoring and Community Police Relations Forums.

The HUD-approved Comprehensive Housing Services program offers free financial counseling, pre-purchase and mortgage application help, and foreclosure counseling, with regular homebuyer and financial education workshops. The Entrepreneurship Center coaches business owners through counseling, workshops and customized training. Workforce programs include Urban Tech credentials in information technology, Urban Youth Pathways for ages 14 to 21, and Urban Senior Jobs paid training for job seekers 55 and older in Broward and Miami.

The annual Summer Food Drive now reaches West Palm Beach, Belle Glade, Delray Beach and Fort Pierce, alongside the John Weiss Thanksgiving Food Drive, Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon, Youth Empowerment Luncheon and Equal Opportunity Day Awards Gala. Volunteers, Guild members and Young Professionals keep these events running.
