First City Network

First City Network is Savannah's longest-running LGBTQ+ social and community network, bringing LGBTQ+ people and allies across the Savannah and coastal Georgia region together since 1985. What began in living rooms and informal gatherings still runs on a simple idea: nobody should have to feel alone here, whether they are newly out, newly relocated, newly retired or just looking for their people.

The calendar is built around real time together. FCN hosts a monthly bowling party (now at Lucky Strike Savannah), Saturday Socials and potlucks in members' homes, game nights and dinners such as its fall steak dinner. Members are invited to suggest and host their own social events through the event coordinator. The network also hosts forums on diversity, inclusion, equity and human rights, and works with allied organizations, businesses and local government on LGBTQ+ community concerns.

Giving back is part of the social life. Events double as drives, like the back-to-school bowling night that collected supplies for the Frank Callen Boys & Girls Club of Savannah, and the FCN Giving Fund Program provides financial assistance to local nonprofits serving the LGBTQ+ community and beyond.

FCN also keeps an important piece of Savannah LGBTQ+ history: the Network News archive, with issues published from 1986 through 2021 documenting decades of community life, advocacy and milestones.

Memberships (single, couples and business) fund events and bring volunteer opportunities. Anyone can RSVP to an event, subscribe to FCN emails or make a one-time donation.
