Savannah Pride Center

Savannah Pride Center is an advocacy, social and service organization working toward safety, empowerment, education and well-being for Greater Savannah's LGBTQIA+ community. Its vision is a community where every person has safety, acceptance and equal rights under the law, and its daily work is creating affirming spaces in the Deep South and connecting people to quality care.

The center's story runs through several local groups. The Savannah LGBT Center opened in 2017, bringing service providers together under one roof. In 2020, with help from First City Network, it united with Savannah Pride and Jeffrey's Place as the First City Pride Center. In 2024 the organization sharpened its focus on physical, mental and holistic care and took the name Savannah Pride Center. The center at 5859 Abercorn Street is open Monday through Thursday, 10 AM to 5 PM, and sees people from hours away in every direction.

Health care is central. The Inclusive Healing Clinic offers free appointments and exams, with low-cost labs, for STI testing, hormone replacement therapy, PrEP and PEP, gynecology and general check-ups; insurance is accepted but not required. Free HIV testing, glucose checks and blood pressure checks run every Wednesday and Thursday from 1 to 5 PM. PrEP ambassadors answer questions by call or text at 912-547-1034, and anyone with a possible HIV exposure in the last 72 hours can start there. The Prism Clinic, a partnership with Georgia Southern University, provides LGBTQIA+ counseling by telehealth and in person, free for the first five visits.

Support and connection fill the rest of the week. The Youth Group, a social and support group for ages 12 to 18, alternates in-person and virtual Friday meetings with activities the youth choose. Third Act gathers LGBTQ+ people 55 and older on the second Sunday of each month to share the trials and triumphs of aging, with field trips through the year. TransFam meets Thursdays for transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse adults and their loved ones, and the Veteran Support Group meets the second and fourth Wednesdays. Queer AA, GAYSL sign language classes that celebrate queer deaf icons, guided meditation and energy healing, and Saint Luke's Sunday worship round out the calendar. The center also offers free marriage services during open hours.

Out in the city, Open Mic Night at The Sentient Bean welcomes poetry, music and drag twice a month, and Cheers Queers, a monthly mixer at Starland Yard, introduces newcomers to volunteers and friends. Savannah Pride Center produces the Stonewall Block Party each June and the Savannah Pride Festival each October; the 2026 festival theme is Chosen Family, with vendor, sponsor and volunteer spots and a Patrons of Pride Pass that supports the center year round.

Volunteers keep the doors open. Front desk volunteers greet clients and give tours on weekday shifts, outreach volunteers staff tables at health fairs and community events, and major event volunteers make Stonewall and Pride happen.
