PFLAG Atlanta

PFLAG Atlanta is the metro Atlanta chapter of PFLAG, promoting the health and well-being of LGBTQ+ people, their families and friends through support, education and advocacy.

The chapter's free support groups are open to everyone at any stage of their journey. Each is led by a trained facilitator, so people can say as little or as much as they like without fear of being judged or pushed to speak, and sharing a name is optional. Unlike therapy, the groups focus on listening and hearing from others who have been through something similar. The in-person Atlanta Support Group meets on Sunday afternoons (2:30 PM) and the Covington Support Group on Sunday afternoons (3:00 PM), both open to LGBTQ+ adults, families, friends and allies. Two online groups meet on Zoom: the LGBTQ+ Teens & Allies Group, led by facilitators from Atlanta Gender Variations, and a group for parents of trans children.

PFLAG Atlanta also offers a speakers bureau, with trained speakers who can craft a presentation for workplaces and organizations on topics such as allyship, pronouns, the differences between gender, sex and sexual attraction, and what it means to come out. Its website gathers resources on medical, mental health, legal, food and shelter and spirituality, a glossary, and a directory of other Georgia PFLAG chapters. The chapter joins the Atlanta Pride parade each year.
