The Arc of Southwest Georgia creates life-changing solutions for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and the families who support them. Founded in 1963 as Albany ARC (Advocacy Resource Center), the nonprofit is an affiliate of The Arc's national network and serves 15 counties from its home in Albany.

For young children, Kids' Corner Child Development Center offers hands-on early-intervention learning for children with and without disabilities, covering motor skills, speech and language, and social and emotional growth. Adults 21 and older can join the Adult Day and Independent Living program, a person-centered center-based program with classes in cooking, money skills and horticulture, exercise, music, community outings and time with a comfort dog. Project ARC provides case management that helps people live and work as independently as possible in the community, including help with housing, money management, medical appointments, transportation and 24/7 on-call assistance, at no charge to participants.

The Arc also provides residential services through Medicaid waivers and state funding, in apartments, group homes and family homes, along with SOURCE enhanced case management for eligible Medicaid members and Family Support Services for needs that can head off a family crisis.
